I had the pleasure of attending Rob & Simon’s wedding in Ibiza this summer, and I LOVED it. Their style is right up my street and their wedding inspired me so much that I just had to share it with you!

I spoke to Rob about the couple’s wedding inspiration, who they worked with and what was most important to them on their big day…
Why did you decide on Ibiza for your wedding?
We both love the vibe and spirit of the Island, we wanted to share that with our family and friends. We wanted the ultimate party and there is no better party place in the world. In addition, good weather is almost guaranteed!
What were the important factors that helped you with deciding on a venue?
We actually didn’t pick one – we had three, as our wedding consisted of three different events over three days. But, for the main celebration, we decided that a beach side venue would embody everything we wanted. We choose a venue with the vibe we wanted (beach club) and with a professional team who are experts at executing events.
Did you work with a planner?
Yes, we worked with two different event planners – one at each of the external venues we selected. This was really important, as at the time my fiancé and I were based in separate countries – in addition to the celebrations being held overseas!
How was the planning process of being in another country to your planner and other suppliers?
Thanks to the professionalism of the planners – and technology – it was seamless. We held regular Skype meetings and apart from the time difference, it was pretty easy.
Did you meet any of the suppliers before the big day?
Apart from the entertainers and the photographer (who we sourced, and are UK based), no we did not meet any of the other suppliers at all!
How did you come up with the styling of your day/s? Did you have any help with this?
We had three different events and wanted a distinct style and theme for each day. We wanted to create some buzz around the events knowing that our guests love to dress up. I have a creative background and have been to loads of different events so I dug deep for inspiration.
For the main day, we knew that we wanted a neutral (white, creams, and linens) and gold theme, in fitting with the beach side setting. I wanted to contrast this against green foliage for the centrepieces – and gold pineapples! I think it’s really important to try to be authentic to the location and venue, as well as you as a couple, when it comes to the styling – and also think about how things will photograph.
How did you keep everyone informed of the details of the weekend?
Before hand, we built a wedding website and created a special Instagram account, which was really helpful keeping everyone on track and creating excitement beforehand. We also had a wedding hashtag for our guests to share all their photos. On the first day of the weekend, we handed out a festival style lanyard program to keep everyone on track over the three days (those who were a little more technology shy were really appreciative).
Do you have any advice/tips for couples planning their overseas wedding?
Get a professional team around you to talk through your ideas so they can talk through the practicalities and things you haven’t thought about… what flowers are in season, how many glasses of fizz you need per person per hour etc ….
What was the highlight of the whole event for you?
Seeing all our friends and family having a great time and enjoying the spirit of the island!
How many guests did you have?
All in all 110 from all over the world – USA, Dubai, Australia, other parts of Spain and the UK.
Was there anything you would’ve changed or liked in addition?
Looking back a videographer and a drone…. Pictures are great but right now I think professionally edited videos are the way forward…
